Ahmed Abid the artist behind A-bid

A-bid is the electronic project of Ahmed Abid, a producer from Sfax on Tunisia's eastern coast.

His route into electronic music ran through formal training first — bass and piano — before he moved to production in 2018. That grounding is audible in the work: the harmony and phrasing come from a player, while the arrangement and sound design come from the machine.

The music draws on North African, Middle Eastern and Tunisian musical traditions and runs them through electronic production — modal melody and regional rhythm rebuilt with synthesis, sampling and club-weight low end rather than quoted as decoration.

Five albums have followed since 2022 — Epilepsy and Travelling in 2022, Thoughts in 2023, then Angry Alpha and Rebirth in 2024 — inside a catalogue of sixty releases and counting.

The pace has become relentless: nineteen singles in 2026 alone, released roughly fortnightly, including a six-part run named after Greek figures — Nyx, Artemis, Poseidon, Ares, Hades and Dionysus.
